OF SAN GENNARO
HAS DONATED $1,800,000 TO LOCAL
CHARITIES AND SCHOOLS SINCE 1996
Figli di San Gennaro , the not-for-profit
organization that has sponsored Little Italy's annual Feast
of San Gennaro since 1996, has donated more than
$1,800,000 to neighborhood schools, parishes
and other charities, since 1996. Many of the donations have
gone to schools whose students come from low-income families.
Since 1996, the year Figli di San Gennaro
(Children of San Gennaro) assumed operation of the Feast,
it has made annual donations from the Feast to charitable
organizations, schools and churches. "No other street
fair in New York City comes close to donating the amount of
money we give to charities each year," says Joseph
Mattone, President of Figli di San
Gennaro, Inc. "Our donations support many religious
and secular organizations providing services and educational
opportunities to youngsters on the Lower East Side and other
areas of New York City."
